Ah i think i’m gonna be a bit more CLEAN in how i express my feelings here rather than how i did over at my deviant art account – cause well that’s my … weirdo place to hang out *glares at dev art for being such a weirdo place to hang*.  It’s quite a hard thing to speak about when nobody i am personally related to by blood is effected, but when the families that are affected are related by marriage through your stepfather – and they’ve done nothing LESS than treat you as one of their own….

You kinda have to speak about it.

Being that i have ADHD it does mean that i process emotion way differently, so basically my first few words of “Holy Shit” and “…omfg” and “It’ll be…ok?” are about all i’ve been able to really say.  Needless to say my insides have been curled up, and messed up since we found out about it on tuesday.

We’re still waiting on official information or response from two members of the family – as i haven’t heard much other than Graeme adding me back on facebook.  But since this isn’t just me, it’s a whole load of people – it’s been quite hard to process – really really hard. David and Joy are alright, and so are the rest of the family up there; my friend Ayla who lives with us was in tears at one point from releif and panic when her friend up there couldnt find her mom – lucky for her and her friend they did.  But worse off after this, i just heard her grandfather passed away this morning.  Even if there was record of the family not getting along with him, he’s still family and i swear that is not an easy thing to deal with.

Death in itself is a pain to deal with if it’s family – when that notice comes out at about 6PM our time here in new zealand and people find out it’s their family – it’s going to be hell.  People would’ve just spoken to these people within a day of the quake – it’s not just the thought of death or that it’s the quake that makes it hard.  It’s the regret that we didn’t do something we should have with said loved one or family member – i know this feeling.

My Grandmother passed away last september, she just turned 90- it was really hard for me to process because as close as i was to her, we went through mental and verbal abuse from her.  As proud of her, and as much as i loved her not JUST as a human being, but as her granddaughter – there were many times i said things behind the curtain i should never have even thought.   As many times as my mother has had near death issues with health – the last time she was in for cellulitis (Mind you not death defying) i was bawling my eyes out when we left to go home to eat dinner and watch tv.  I’m a sook , like my dog Jack – a big ass sook LOL.

When it comes to money? Death has a real problem when it’s a disaster, i’d got my student course related costs like tuesday morning, and i swear i couldn’t bear the thought of donating any less than my course related costs… But we all know as human beings we have to survive, and we have to live and learn…. xX;; but it’s the little things like that which have been eating at me since tuesday night. I’ve been TRYING to not be self depricating and throw my credit card at redcross and donate a hundred or two more – it wouldn’t be as selfless as people would have wanted to think it would be. It’d be me just plain getting in a tizzy and removing myself from the allowance of this money the government gladly gives me for books.

So i did donate, pawprints got a $3 text donation from me and Redcross got a 25$ donation from me.

However donations always come with some freaking scam – and always that the media reports these scams incorrectly.  As you will notice on my old domain, i’ve posted the Donate4CharityNZ scam information.  I am of course not the only one who’s reported this to TVNZ, STuff and the NZ Govt…. but frankly, i’m appalled at the media for never mentioning that Venturian media is a company that loses out from this, they aren’t a direct charity but work with direct charities on behalf and have a central website with offers on how to give and such to them.  They’re normally based in the UK, and Neil is the contact i was dealing with and he seems quite taken aback by the idiot who bothered to make this scam up.

Don’t you think that as a nation people would be up in arms by someone thinking up something like this? Nigerian bank scams aside, this guy actually said in his email to several people “In return for your help you’ll be paid out 10% of each donation received” aka, employed in a scam to gather money. But i would think that humanity is quite stupid somedays and there’s sadly a few that replied to the guy and may have fallen for it.

There’s just so much in life that’s left unanswered.

There’s just so much stupidity that we can’t fix – so much that at the end of the day if we’re still alive – we just have to unfortunately shrug most of it off.

This year when i’m off to my 2nd year at university, i’m going to attempt (no promises sadly as there’s always something in the way of my stopping my own distractions LOL) to be in more ability to put effort in to my classwork.  I dont have Japanese again til 2nd semester, but that’s because I failed JAPA132 last year.

I bought Nakama 1 pack – and am going to work with my Lecturer off and on to prepare for that part of the year.

I’m also studying Social work papers as a minor – Human Services, so i’ll have more of a career direction – but someone told me something today..

so here’s my ADHD and why i’m returning to COMPLAINING ABOUT NZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

“We don’t really study for a career, we just study to study.”

…………….no wonder people aren’t getting jobs with their degrees! 😀 🙂

Also, to end my ranting and raving and stuff – i’m going to leave my lack of readers and friends and family with this i found on Harmony’s wall on facebook:

Roses are red the chalice is blue,
The cathedral has fallen many buildings have too,
You can rattle our bones, you can rip streets apart,
But you will never defeat our red and black hearts,
For we are cantabrians new zealanders and together we know,
………………We stand tall together, through anything we regrow.

Add to your wall to remember those who have fallen and to remind us all to stand tall. 22/02/2011

I’m not a cantabrian shut up i’m american, i live in dunedin – we are uhm just as caring THANK YOU XD.

Here’s the general nz one i’ve redone 😀

Roses are red the sky is quite blue,
The cathedral has fallen many buildings have too,
You can rattle our bones, you can rip streets apart,
But you will never defeat our white and black hearts,
For we are New Zealanders and together we know,
………………We stand tall together, through anything we regrow.

Add to your wall to remember those who have fallen and to remind us all to stand tall. 22/02/2011

And good luck to all of you on finding your loved ones.

I so lied.

Yea I didn’t’ really want a blog- but this is attached to my windows live, it means I’m free .. I don’t have to worry about file space, and how much it costs. I don’t have to worry about asking for people to sponsor my stuff cause I’m broke.

….not, a worry anymore Open-mouthed smile.

Yea, totally.

So, now my frustration is trying to seriously combat the issue of how much apathy I have towards blogging.  You see, I’m used to livejournal, then again – that’s where people write unethical things and slander people behind a friends only post! (Trust me, we’ve all done it once.)  And with that, usually I’m used to all the trappings of that, and rpgs etc-

Well I’m learning to grow up, that doesn’t mean playing with the big kids … that means growing up and learning to play on my own SAEFLY.  Yes, that’s right, Oshare Curry is gone (Except for the SL hangout) – and I’m free to do as I please.

My reputation? I don’t care anymore.

Ok I … sort of do, I do however say that as I run with my mother a SL Housing design business and I don’t need people knowing my day to day toilet details. (As some people totally would post.)

However, I will oblige to post my complaints of randomness on here – like “WTF IS A SEX TOILET” …. and “WTF. MY INVENTORY IS A MESS!” or “Zomg. PUPPY! *huggles jack* I WUV HIM!” or … “AYLA SAYS HI” … or in her case when she comes back from Christchurch, “OHAI!~”

…..yes, that and I will be posting interesting knowledge and findings relevant towards my study.  >_> I wonder if I can import my crap from my other wordpress….. the one I neglected to remove from my hosting xD.

(Yes my assignment one .. that one…. over there!)

Have a pictoor.

I play with photoshop, I play with second life……. and no the next answer is not “I play with myself” GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER AND PAY ATTENTION! Smile

….if playing with myself inlcudes a coffee and civilization four, totally clothed and beating the crap out of russia, then we’re fine.

Before i expound largley onto the fandom section of the subject; i want to show the public versions of hide’s funeral and report.  It’s imperitave that i show this, as one of my sources on Hideto Matsumoto was indeed an article in AsiaWeek about his passing.  (And no, i am not referencing five hide plushies just to prove my own fandom :P)

David Bowie, T-Rex/Marc Bolan, KISS: Where do they fit in the mix?

Glam Rock didn’t die in 1975; however this is only an opinion of one academic student in Asia 201.  I truly honestly beleive that these resources were passed on to a new ERA of “GLAM” close to a decade later. Glam died in the US and UK; Kiss tried to do disco – but  by 1986 X-japan was using upside down methods to making their hair stand up with Aqua Net and hairdryers.

Visual Kei was definatley not something completley fathered by X-Japan, but by several bands at the time.  Many branching the different ideas and styles that were to become such a complex genre with several sub-genres inbetween.

While many beleive on several internet based forums/websites and other formats, that X-japan’s “Psychadelic Violence Crime of Visual Shock” was the beginning of it all, many still argue that Kote Kote Kei came first.  (That’s like asking what came first, the chicken or the egg)

Buck Tick is more your Bowie-esque dark side of the moon cross Pink Floyd with a handsome Atsushi Sakurai (later mixed with industrial project Schwein), with X-Japan being your testosterone laden Bon Jovie on Asahi and Sapporo brew.   Other lesser known bands at the same exact point in time existed, but due to lack of knowledge and reference on them they will be omitted.

In terms of professionally categorizing how Glam Rock influenced, or even 70s rock PERIOD; we have to go back and take a peek at the listed influential bands and even unlisted ones.  While the Biased history of Glam rock states “No you still won’t like Elton John”; i’m going to assume still that i’ve never been able to find his Japanese equivalent either.

Some don’t realize the influence that is put forth between these decades, and how it’ll reach towards other formats or other genres in other areas.  This is where my argument about where we market music, and why do we market others, well we market other genres and other formats to comparatively show our own musical identities. Identities which are defined in a personal way towards how we live our lives (yet not always) and how we feel about things (yet not always).

Wild, unearthing products that most parents in a conservative nature would not let their children attach to even if they won it in a claw machine at the arcade. Remember the video I posted earlier in the blog about Celebration?  That conservative parent would’ve burned these, probably along with the people that are burning Qurans in the USA… as offensive as either gesture is, passion and security do not run hand in hand.   Music has a profound effect on how we deal with daily lives, so the fact that the difference remains in such musics from overseas – look at Bollywood Music or even music from Afghanistan.  Every country has a different beat; while at the same time every country still has a load of those cookie cutter bubblegum glittery unoriginal bits.

This is where I mention “Morning Musume.” (As my lecturer in Japa132 constantly jokes; that this is what my essay is all about, how much i supposedly adore Morning Musume.  A joke that started largely because a younger classmate of mine enjoys their music.) largely talented young individuals but are slated into a popular “Idol” or cookie cutter format.

I’m going to apologize that i should’ve done the essay first and then this second – but i find it so much more amazing to get through every point this way than the usual way.  Especially since, this is a subject i am quite interested and passionate about.  I would like to note that maybe someday i could write more on this.  There was so much information and i needed to reference it all because it’s all relevant! (This is where i am estatically grinning and admitting as tedious as essays are, i’ve actually done my homework for once!)

But the Morning Musume bit wasn’t meant as an offensive additive, I personally just do not like their music – but they are considered as a possible “kawaii” type genre.

An example:

Back to the influence of 70s glam, i’ll add some more referential videos to prove my point in a moment – yet the thing i should remind people is that even in an essay research can be based on opinion as well as fact.  Because some of these artists are either of a foreign nature, or some even have passed away; you can’t always get the truth or fact on influence.   As Rock was actually something that was influenced and born out of Jazz, Folk and Blues.  As a lot of music has inspired itself from either Classical or Traditionalist nation based music – you can always perceive where the roots came from.

With the notation that music grew from something else; and adapted itself into something new – I can safely say that’s how much of Japanese Popular music begins to form.  Some of it is largely again; similar and unoriginal, with similar styles and beats that mix from all over the world.  Rock is just as mainstream as the next thing, and when you look at US based rock – a lot of people will always say “Rock is Dead”.

Miyavi disagreed with this theory in his track from the 2005 Miyavizm album aptly named “Rock N’ Roll is Not Dead”; an answer to previous single “Pop is Dead” from his 2002 single of the same name.  Flamboyant colors, and outlandish statements that connect to a real world idea of what things are; compared to most “Metal” which glamorizes a gothic nature (to some satanic.) and an unreal world for their audiences to lose themselves within.

So with Marc Bolan recreating Tyrannosaurus Rex into T-Rex, and David Bowie never straying from his experimental style is there a way to connect the dots per se?

Officially it’s reading between the lines, and connecting style and sound with the comparison in research.  A previous quotation from Hayley Ayto stated that she seemed to hear Metallica influentially inside the Blue Blood album of X-japan.  This again rings that research can only sometimes come from opinion, without the literal answer from the artist themselves.  As music being an international thing, one can only surmise that many similarities exist within many countries and many bands.

Jimi Hendrix was largely along side Jim Morrison considered the forefathers of Rock, with Marc Bolan and David Bowie riding the Glam wave.  Kiss was their own genre in my opinion, there’s nothing you can do to explain Gene Simmons in death defying platform heels and lipstick.  X-Japan offiically, and same with Hideto Matsumoto notifies the public and audiences that influences in their music were because of Kiss.

That’s your connection.

(I’m a bit over the mark on this question, i’ll be more considerate about  how i write the other ones out, i missed a few turns and went off subject on this one.)

The next few posts will be more media based- to show examples (Which is basically to break up the longer posts)
